This time, I play the powerful Big Boss: Minissha Lamba

Essentially a hot glam-babe, talented model and Bollywood heroine, the shapely and petite Minissha Lamba has some 20-plus movies to her credit; including the 2008 musical-hit movie 'Bachna Ae Haseeno', opposite heart-throb Ranbir Kapoor. The svelte Lamba who grabbed attention as the chilled-out, chic contestant in reality TV show 'Bigg Boss 8',  was seen this year in the period-historical witty drama, TV show 'Tenali Rama' as 'Vish Kanya'. Currently, vivacious Minissha is shooting for the maverick fiction TV show 'Internet Wala Love'. This show will premiere on Monday, August 27 at 7.00 pm and will air every Monday to Friday on the Colors TV channel. The Afternoon D&C chatted with the articulate yet frank Minissha. Excerpts:

What's so exciting about 'Internet Wala Love'?
In the glorious past, prospective 'lovers' exchanged scribbled notes or subtle overtures and gestures. Today, with the increasing use of the internet, you can type, click or swipe your way into a relationship. 'Internet Wala Love' is a vibrant new age yet unconventional love story with dynamic, young, relatable characters and situations.

What makes this 'prem kahani' kaafi hatke?
The lead characters Jai (suave Shivin Narang) and Aadhya (chulbuli Tunisha Sharma) are in conflicting contrast with each other. RJ Jai eats, breathes and lives mainly for social media while Aadhya is wary of the Internet and limits her internet interactions. This quirky and playful narrative explores what happens when the duo unintentionally cross paths as office colleagues. Besides me, the supporting cast includes seasoned popular actors like Varun Badola and Jayati Bhatia.

Where does madame Minissha fit into this romantic saga?
(Smiles) They have cast me in an amazing unique character called Maheera’, who is the big boss (CEO) of a successful business conglomerate called 'M-Media House'. She is strict, meticulous, disciplined and runs her business and personal life on her own terms.
Both the 'Internet Wala...' lead characters Jai and Aadhya are working for me, but in different companies. Off-screen, I am not so strict and fastidious, because I prefer that people should 'love me or like me' as an amiable human being.

Why are you fascinated with your role?
Most of the fiction TV serials have the saas-bahu syndrome or crime or comedy as their theme. Rarely does one come across an Indian TV show against  the backdrop of 'corporate office space', where the glamorous character is a powerful female entrepreneur – the big boss of a business conglomerate.

There is a wedding planner venture and an FM Radio station among its various ventures. My Maheera role supports the mantra of woman empowerment.

Personally, are you in favour of internet romance?
Definitely, what's wrong in that? We have to move steadily with the hi-tech digital times or be left far behind. Not only, does one get to connect with a large number of local, national and foreign friend options, but it's also time-saving. Conversely, we also need to be alert, cautious and vigilant, so that we don't get conned or cheated by fraudsters.

Isn't it true that you are also dabbling in writing novels?
Hmm, yes that's right, I have been into writing. My dream passion is also to be a writer-author of female-centric fun-romantic novels. Hope to release my novels in the near future.
