Ekta Kapoor goes ga-ga over 'OTT' viewing

Bohemian glam-diva telly-baroness Ekta Kapoor is known for her wit and candor which was evident as she shared her views at a recent star-studded cinema summit.

Jogging into a flashback, she credited her initial 'star-trek' success to her evergreen legendary actor-father Jeetendra. “It was my dad who initially coaxed me to  earn my living and launch this start-up of producing TV content or else he wanted me to get married; which was not my option. My first-ever content for a foreign channel did not get sold, but the next TV show 'Hum Paanch' created folklore!”

Ekta is clear on her rationale on why she makes TV shows like 'Naagin' and why OTT (Over-The-Top) genre is the trending buzz-word. “Acceptance is the biggest word we should learn. Folklore should be enjoyed and reveled but we are cagey. Suspension of reality is absolute unabashed entertainment delight for the masses. Which I do with full aplomb. In today's times, the private convenience of OTT gives you your preferred choice. You no longer have to sit through a boring three- hour movie in a theatre. With the advent of OTT, the smart cell phone is going to decide what people want to watch on a private, personal level in contrast to TV which is 'family viewing'. With the digital domain, one gets a far more unshackled open space for 'individualistic' viewing',” shrugs workaholic Ekta.

lieves only in instinctive experience and dismisses research as being a post-mortem tool.
