Miranda impresses with fine hat-trick

Mumbai: Jason Miranda notched up a neat hat-trick to power St. Blaise ‘A’, Amboli to a thumping 6-0 win against Sacred Heart ‘C’, Santacruz in a Men’s second round match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana organized 31st Inter-Parish 5-a-side Rink Football Tournament - 2018 for the Victor D’Mello Trophy and played under floodlights at the gymkhana’s tennis courts. Miranda received good support from teammates Kaldyn Misquitta, Shaun Menezes and Rishi Balekar all striking one goal apiece to round off the winning margin.

In a keenly contested match, St. Anthony’s ‘C’, Vakola prevailed over St. John Bosco ‘A’, Borivali by a narrow 1-0 margin with Jason Challah scoring the decisive winner.

Results – 2nd round: St. Anthony’s ‘C’, Vakola 1 (Jason Challah 1) beat St. John Bosco ‘A’, Borivali 0. Holy Family ‘C’, Andheri 2 (Nash Henriques 1, Jerin  Cheeran 1) beat Our Lady of Health ‘B’, Sahar 1 (Vivian D’Souza 1).

St. Blaise ‘A’, Amboli 6 (Jason Miranda 3, Kaldyn Misquitta 1, Shaun Menezes 1, Rishi Balekar 1) beat Sacred Heart ‘C’, Santacruz 0.

Aalisha Naik (girls' singles under-13 and under-15), Soham Phatak (boys' singles under-13) and Siddharth Bhuta (boys' singles under-15) will be the top seeds in their respective age groups in the Gautam Thakkar sub-junior badminton tournament. There will be six events of singles and doubles for boys and girls in the under-13 and under-15 age groups. The first round of the girls' under-13 group will get underway at the Bombay Gymkhana badminton courts today.
