Maharashtra lads thrash TN 10-0

Thursday, December 06, 2018

Mumbai: Maharashtra lads put up a superb combined performance and outclassed Tamil Nadu coasting to a thumping 10-0 win in a league match of the AIFF Sub-Junior National Football Championship played at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

Having lost to Arunachal Pradesh by a narrow 1-0 margin, Maharashtra produced an improved display and dominated play from the start and scored at regular intervals.

Mustafa Shaikh scored a fantastic hat-trick while Ravi Rathod and Jaden Irani, both chipped in with two goals each and Yash Gangwal, and Mehank Karki also got their names on the scoresheet. The 10th goal was a gift as Tamil Nadu skipper Aravind Kartickeyan scored an own goal.

Chennaiyin FC challenge awaits in-form Mumbai City FC
Hosts Mumbai City FC will be keen to continue with their winning streak when they take on a beleaguered Chennaiyin FC on Thursday in an Indian Super League game. The Islanders are on a five-match unbeaten run, winning four games.

If they manage to avoid defeat against Chennaiyin, it will be their best unbeaten run in the history of the ISL and much of the credit has to go to their mean defence which has leaked in a mere two goals since conceding five against FC Goa.

Mumbai, who suffered an embarrassing loss in Goa, did not look back after that match. In the last game against Delhi Dynamos, Mumbai City FC won 4-2. Chennaiyin FC have had a season to forget so far having amassed five points from their opening 10 games.
