Monday, May 14, 2018

Mumbai: Kareena Shankta of  Forest Club once again stole the show by setting the pool on fire as she not only broke the meet record in the 200m breast stroke but went on to better the long standing national mark on the concluding day of the GMAAA Age Group Aquatic championships. Overall, 17 new meet record were set during the three day competition.

Kareena, having broken India swimmer Monique Gandhi’s 2012 record in the 50m breast stroke yesterday, went to set another record by winning the 200m breaststroke event in 02:47.75 secs on way to bettering last year’s Kenisha Gupta’s timing of 02:56.41 secs.  Ever Kareena’s timing was better than the national timing of 02:50.42 secs. Vedika Amin from Otters Club, whom Kareena had beaten, redeemed herself by winning the 100m freestyle in 01:01.70 secs, thus eclipsing her Otters Club’s teammate Kenisha Gupta’s the rest last year ‘s timing of 01:02.37 secs.
