How Meditation and Vastu are interconnected

Friday, June 30, 2017

Our own home is the best place for meditation as we are aware of every nook and corner in it. We can find the relation between meditation and the Vastu we live in, says Dr. Tushar Yashwant Savdavkar

Ayurveda, Yoga, Tantra and Meditation are all parts of the ancient life disciplines that have been practiced in India for centuries. Meditation is a mental discipline that helps you let go of your normal, reflexive thinking mind so that a deeper state of awareness, insight and relaxation can energise. Meditation is simply making a choice of focus your mind on something. You can meditate by simply creating special time consciously to focus your mind in positive and helpful way.

In initial stage of meditation, you focus your mind on an object.  The object may be a candle, flower, statue, image of god or saint or idol. Focusing on an object helps you calm and centre yourself and stabilizes your mind. For the next few days just take up two or three simple themes or phrases like “I am a peaceful soul”, “I am a successful person” or “I am a happy soul”.  Repeat these thoughts gently to yourself, allowing them to sink in more and more deeply until your thoughts and feelings match each other.

In order to reap the benefits of meditation, it is important to develop a consistent practice, daily if possible. The ritual of sitting down at the same time and in the same place every day will help make meditation a part of our life. You should choose sacred space which is quiet and where you can connect with a world beyond your ordinary, everyday life. Our own home is the best place for meditation as we are aware with every nook and corner of our home. Hence we can find the relation between meditation and the Vastu we live in.

The right room
In ancient days, a separate room for meditation was reserved in Hindu house. The room should be in North, East or North East direction of the house. The best direction to meditate is the North East (Ishanya-the corner of God). It has been noticed that the place of meditation arranged quite closer to the laterine creates a disastrous situation. Now a days, a separate meditation room may be a luxury but a quiet corner of a house can be used for meditation. Hence you can select a corner of the above direction of the house which should be full of light, air, peace, quiet, neat and clean. You should put white or any light pastel shades to walls of the meditation room for more soothing and relaxing experience. The use of essential oils from plants such as lavender, chamomile can really soothe the soul, the mind and the body. Even you can use incensed candles or oil. Fresh air is very important. It boosts your brain power, improves your overall health, held to feel fresh and relaxed.

Tremendous benefit will be achieved by the person who does regular and sincerely meditation. Relaxation is the major benefit of meditation. Meditation also seems to affect the size and health of certain areas of the brain. It not only causes increased activities but also increased thickness in the left and right pre frontal cortex. It reduces stress, depression, anxiety. Besides generating pleasant beta brainwave taming the flight-or-fight area of the brain and stimulating activity and growth of the frontal cortex. It can faster positive emotions. It recharges your body both physically and mentally and keep you balanced.
