Onam, Kerala's biggest festival, was celebrated with great fervour across the city. The festival celebrates the home coming of legendary King Mahabali, who was granted a boon to return, once a year, to the lands that he ruled. The Onam carnival lasts ten days and brings out the best of Kerala culture and tradition by the Malayali diaspora around the world. In Mumbai, Onam was celebrated with great pomp by the Keralites. One of the main attractions of the festival is Sadhya (feast) which consists of a variety of tasty, seasonal, assorted vegetables cooked in a traditional manner along with a variety of chutneys and pickles.
