Never-say-die spirit of Jai Bhim comrades!
Thousands of followers of Dr BR Ambedkar have descended on Shivaji Park from across the country to commemorate his 62nd death anniversary 'Mahaparinirvan Diwas' today. Even as Cyclone Ockhi passed the Mumbai's coast, the BMC had informed the Mumbai police, fire brigade, coast guard, NDRF and the Navy to be on their toes till December 7. BMC has asked the authorities to be on high alert today, when lakhs of people would be gathering at the Chaitya Bhoomi at Shivaji Park to pay their respects to Dr. BR Ambedkar. The rains played spoilsport on Tuesday when rain water entered the makeshift tents erected on the Shivaji Park ground for the visiting followers. The followers were evacuated and have been given accommodation in the nearby BMC schools. However, these rains owing to cyclone Ockhi can’t crush Jai Bhim comrades’ spirit.

The Afternoon Despatch & Courier's Santosh Gupta captures the moments as the unusual showers cast its wet blanket on Tuesday due to cyclone Ockhi and continued to disrupt arrangements for 'Mahaparinirvan Diwas'.
