A different beat!
Girls perform during the rhythmic gymnastic training which is conducted at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex, Dharavi where coach Varsha Upadhye is shaping our young gymnasts from different age groups to get them in sync for various competitions in India and abroad. Rhythmic Gymnastics, an Olympic recognized sport, is slowly making its inroads in India and features athletes who have represented India at the recently concluded Olympics in Brazil. However, due to the lack of infrastructure, our eves have been training on the hard surface of the wooden badminton court rather than a matted surface which is the prime need for these gymnasts. ADC photographer Trupti Arekar brings you glimpses on how these gymnasts go through their routine and prepare for upcoming competitions.
