Amit Shah reviews cyclone Vayu preparations
New Delhi:
Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday reviewed the preparations for cyclone Vayu which is expected to make a landfall in Gujarat, and directed officials to ensure all possible steps for the safety of people, officials said. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has pre-positioned 26 teams, comprising about 45 personnel each, and the rescuers are equipped with boats, tree-cutters, telecom equipments.

Key member of global fake currency racket held in Delhi
New Delhi:
A 32-year-old man alleged to be a key member of an international fake currency racket was arrested near Kashmere Gate here, police said yesterday. The accused has been identified as Santosh Kumar Singh, a resident of Saran district in Bihar, they said.

Minor abducted, gang-raped in UP
A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two men in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said yesterday. The incident took place in Khandrauli village under Kandhla police station area on Monday. The minor was found lying unconscious in a field, they said.

Facebook has honoured a Manipuri man for discovering a WhatsApp bug that violated the privacy of a user. Zonel Sougaijam, a 22-year-old civil engineer, said that the social media giant awarded USD 5000 to him and also included him in the 'Facebook Hall of Fame 2019', for detecting the WhatsApp bug.

Govt sets target of providing clean drinking water to all by 2024
New Delhi:
The Centre has set a target of providing clean drinking water to all by 2024, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said yesterday.
He said the government is formulating a plan to provide clean drinking water to nearly 14 crore households.  

3 children drown in Yamuna in UP
Banda (UP):
Three children drowned in Yamuna river in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district, police said yesterday. The incident took place in Bhusauli village on Monday, they said. A wedding ceremony was underway in the village and six children went to the nearby Yamuna river to take a bath without informing their families, Additional Superintendent of Police Balwant Chaudhary said.
