Mayawati attacks PM on his marriage
Lucknow:
In a bizarre statement and personal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BSP president Mayawati yesterday alleged that women in the BJP are scared of their husbands meeting the Prime Minister fearing they might also "abandon their wives". "I have come to know that in BJP, women leaders get scared when they see their husbands going near PM Modi. They fear that like Modi they might also abandon their wives," Mayawati said in a press release issued here.

RSS chief takes part in jubilee celebrations of Mutt
Coimbatore:
RSS sarsanghchalak (chief) Mohan Bhagwat yesterday participated in the golden jubilee celebrations of Kamatchipuri Adheenam here and released the golden jubilee souvenir of the mutt. During his brief stay at the mutt, Bhagwat also launched its website with details about its history and functioning to the benefit of the devotees and the general public.

Cracks between Congress and JD(S) widen in Karnataka
Bengaluru:
Cracks within the ruling coalition partners in Karnataka appeared to widen as JD(S) State president A H Vishwanath and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah accused each other of not following the "coalition dharma." The flare-up between the two leaders that could complicate matters for the Congress and JD(S) further stemmed from the growing 'Siddaramiaah for CM' clamour within the Congress.

Forest fires raging in U'khand
Dehradun:
Over 60 fresh cases of forest fire were reported from different parts of Uttarakhand as temperature continued to soar in the hilly state. This year, more than 900 hectares of land in Kumaon and Garhwal regions has been gutted in wildfire incidents so far, Chief Conservator of Forest PK Singh said. He said 64 fresh incidents of forest blazes were reported from different parts of the state yesterday.

Woman 'sold', gangraped in UP; police say investigating
Meerut (UP):
A woman, who was "sold" for Rs 10,000 and raped by people for whom she was forced to work as domestic help, set herself on fire after Uttar Pradesh police officials allegedly refused to register her complaint, according to the Delhi Commission for Women.
