Prospects of BJP candidates in Rajasthan poor: Gehlot
Barmer:
Targeting the BJP leadership over its candidate selection in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot yesterday said all the four union ministers contesting Lok Sabha polls in the state are in a "weak position" as the public is "unhappy" with them. Gehlot said Prime Minister Narendra Modi made first-time MPs minister and people are "fed up" with them in five years.

Omar questions rationale behind closing Jammu-Srinagar NH
Srinagar:
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah yesterday questioned the rationale behind closing the Jammu-Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway for civilian traffic on Sundays and Wednesday if security force convoys could ply on the same road on other days of the week as well. The former chief minister posted a video on his Twitter handle showing a long convoy of security forces moving on the highway yesterday while civilian traffic also plied side by side.

Kamal Haasan weighing options for third front formation
Coimbatore:
Makkal Neethi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan yesterday said the people have started thinking of a third front and expressed the need to project a third prime ministerial candidate. Speaking to reporters here, the actor-turned-politician said he was confident of seeing the formation of such a front and added that the leaders of several parties have been holding discussions in that regard.

Arunachal polls: 131 crorepati nominees, CM Khandu richest
Itanagar:
Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who is seeking a re-election from Mukto Assembly seat for the third consecutive term, is the richest among 184 candidates contesting the state polls, with assets worth more than Rs 163 crore, according to a election watchdog report. Polling for simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be held in the state on April 11.

Periyar statue found vandalised in TN
Pudukottai:
A life-size statue of rationalist leader and Dravidian movement founder E V Ramasamy, popularly known as Periyar, was found vandalised at Aranthangi in the district yesterday, police said. The incident triggered an outrage with the Tamil Nadu government joining the opposition parties in condemning the act, while assuring action against the culprits.
