NCW issues notice to Rahul Gandhi for ‘misogynistic’ remarks against Sitharaman
New Delhi:
The National Commission For Women issued a notice Thursday to Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his "extremely misogynistic, offensive and unethical" remarks against Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at a rally in Jaipur. In the notice, the national women's panel said it has taken suo motu cognisance of news reports which appeared in various print and electronic media dated January 9 "wherein it is reported that you have allegedly made remarks insulting against a woman minister".

BJP’s 2-day national council from Friday

The Narendra Modi government's outreach to different sections of society is likely to be a key theme for the two-day BJP national council meeting starting here Friday as thousands of delegates arrive here for the mega event that will set the tone for the party's Lok Sabha campaign. BJP president Amit Shah will inaugurate the event while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to deliver the concluding speech on Saturday, which party leaders believe will lay down its agenda for the general elections.

Malaysian political leaders meet PM Modi

Leader of Malaysia's Keadilan Rakyar party Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the two discussed matters of mutual interest. Ibrahim, a member of the Malaysian parliament, met the PM with two other fellow parliamentarians -- Kesavan Subramanian and Santhara Kumar Ramanaidu. "The prime minister congratulated Ibrahim on his recent election as President of the PKR Party. He recalled their last meeting in Malaysia in May 2018.

Chidambaram takes dig at govt over Kashmiri IAS officer’s resignation
New Delhi:
Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram Thursday took a dig at the BJP-led central government over the resignation of IAS officer Shah Faesal, saying the world will take note of "his cry of anguish and defiance". In a series of tweets, the former home and finance minister claimed whatever Faesal, the first Kashmiri IAS topper, had said was an indictment of the Narendra Modi government. "Though sad, I salute Mr Shah Faesal IAS (now resigned). Every word of his statement is true and is an indictment of the BJP government. The world will take note of his cry of anguish and defiance," he said.
