IT raids 16 premises linked to Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot
The Income Tax Department (ITD) Wednesday conducted searches on multiple premises linked to Delhi Transport minister Kailash Gahlot in connection with an alleged tax evasion case, officials said.  They said at least 16 locations in and around the national capital are being raided by a team of about 30 ITD sleuths. The searches are being conducted as part of a tax evasion probe against two construction firms linked to the minister and others, the officials said.  Gahlot is the minister for transport, law and revenue and is an AAP MLA from the Najafgarh Assembly Constituency.

Rlys offers 'vrat ka khana' as a part of its e-catering menu during Navratri
Railways will offer 'vrat ka khana' (food during fasting) as a part of its e-catering menu during the Navratri festival which started on Wednesday, IRCTC said. The Railways' catering arm said that keeping in mind the ritualistic fast observed by many during the festival, it has been decided to introduce them in its menu from October 10-18. It  consists of satvik diet like sabudana, sendha namak, kuttu ka atta, and certain vegetables. "This year IRCTC, in a bid to make train travel during this time of the year less of a hassle, is offering ‘vrat ka khana' as a part of its e-catering menu," the IRCTC statement said.     

600 underprivileged children screened as part of visual acuity campaign
Seeking to benefit the eyesight of underprivileged children, around 600 of them were screened as part of a campaign organised here to test their visual acuity, officials said Wednesday. Fiji's High Commissioner to India Yogesh Punja, and Australian Labor Party advisor and former NSW Parliament candidate, Aisha Amjad, participated in the campaign on Wednesday.
