15 cases of fire in trains in last five months, railway board sounds alarm
Fifteen cases of fire-related accidents have been reported in trains in the last five months primarily due to improper maintenance of rolling stock and lack of supervision, a Railway Board letter has said, instructing zonal railways to take corrective measures to minimise such incidents in the future. The letter addressed to all General Managerss of all zones states that such incidents have shown 'laxity in maintenance of rolling stock' and preventive action must be taken in this regard. "In the last five months, there are 15 cases of fire accidents/incidents reported over zonal railways involving locomotives, coaching stock and freight stock due to various reasons like miscreant activities, improper maintenance of rolling stock, loading of prohibited items.

India, Myanmar discuss bilateral ties, boundary issues
The entire gamut of bilateral ties, including issues related to boundary, security and defence, were discussed in the 17th round of Foreign Office Consultations between India and Myanmar, the External Affairs Ministry has said. In the meeting held yesterday, the Indian side was led by Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, while U Myint Thu, Permanent Secretary, Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs led the other side. "During the discussions, the two sides reviewed the complete range of bilateral relations, including high-level visits, security and defence related issues, boundary matters and border management, trade and commerce, development cooperation, connectivity, cultural and consular matters.

Harsimrat, SGPC members thank PM for reimbursing central share of GST on ‘langar’ items
A delegation led by Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to thank him for the government's decision to reimburse the central share of GST on items for 'langar' and 'prasad'.  The delegation also consisted of members from Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
