Focus on quality over variety: Goyal to railway caterers
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal today asked caterers to provide quality food on trains -- an instruction he gave while himself observing a fast. Goyal, who was in Thane as part of the BJP's day-long nationwide fast over the washout of the budget session of Parliament, spoke via-video conference with the representatives of the food and beverage industry to improve catering services on trains. Speaking from the stage of the protest, he conveyed to them that substandard food being served to train passengers was unacceptable.

Passenger held with 10 live bullets at IGI airport
An Indore-bound passenger was apprehended at the Delhi airport for allegedly carrying 10 live bullet rounds in his baggage, an official said today. A CISF officer, deputed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to scan the baggage of commuters, detected a bullet-like object on the x-ray monitor yesterday, they said. "Ten live bullet rounds of .32mm calibre were recovered from the passenger identified as V K Sharma. The man was not allowed to take the flight and was handed over to the police as he could not produce any documents for carrying the ammunition," the official said, adding Sharma was later arrested

More than 1 lack bio-toilets installed in railways since 2011: Ministry
Indian Railways has installed more than one Lakh bio-toilets in trains till March 2018, seven years since 57 were installed in the Gwalior Varanasi Bundelkhand Express in January 2011, a statement from the Railway Ministry said today. With 1,25,000 such toilets being installed, the ministry has now covered about 60 per cent of coaching fleet of the railways, the ministry said.

Prime Minister travels to Tamil Nadu while observing fast
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who observed a fast along with fellow BJP MPs to protest the washout of the second leg of the Budget session of Parliament, today travelled to Tamil Nadu to participate in several events. On Tuesday, sources had said that while Modi would observe fast to protest Parliament disruptions by opposition parties, he would not disturb his official schedule, which included a visit to Tamil Nadu, meeting officials and clearing  whole lot of policy-related files.
