Sivan K to succeed Kiran Kumar as ISRO chairman
Noted scientist Sivan K was today appointed as the chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to replace A S Kiran Kumar. The announcement comes two days ahead of the proposed historic launch of the ISRO's 100th satellite along with 30 others in a single mission from Sriharikota.

I-T searches 130 premises of south India-based jewellery chains
The Income Tax Department today conducted country-wide searches at over 100 stores and other premises belonging to two major south-India based jewellery chains on charges of alleged tax evasion, official sources said. The action is being carried out against Kerala-based jewellery group Joyalukkas and another firm connected with it. I-T sleuths are raiding 130 premises of the business houses in the cities of Chennai, Hyderabad, Thrissur and other locations in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi and West Bengal, I-T sources said.

Forex smuggling: Jet Airways to take action against crew
Jet Airways will take further action against one of its female flight attendants arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for allegedly smuggling forex to Hong Kong worth over Rs 3 crore, the company has said. The airline said it has a strict code of conduct and zero tolerance towards any action of its employees that contravenes domestic or international laws of the countries in which it operates. "Based on the investigations and inputs from law enforcement agencies, the airline will take further action," Jet Airways said in a filing to the BSE yesterday.

CBI records Farooq's statement in JKCA embezzlement case
The CBI has recorded the statement of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abullah in connection with its probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds at the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. The case pertains to an alleged embezzlement of over Rs 113 crore of funds at the cricket association, which was headed by Abdullah at the time. The alleged scam has surfaced in 2012. The agency refused to share any details about the examination of Abdullah but sources said his statement was recorded recently.Abdullah is not named as a suspect in the FIR registered by the agency, they said. The CBI had taken over the case from the state cops in 2015.
