Akshay Kumar donates Rs 9L each to families of slain CRPF men
Actor Akshay Kumar has donated Rs 9 lakh each to the families of the 12 CRPF personnel who were killed in a recent Naxal ambush in Chhattisgarh. Officials said, soon after the incident, the actor approached the Union Home Ministry with a request to obtain the bank account numbers of the family members of the jawans who were killed in the March 11 ambush as he wanted to make a monetary donation to them. They said the Ministry, accepting Kumar's request, directed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to share the bonafide bank account numbers of the families of the slain personnel.

India to support Afghan efforts to build a peaceful country
India has reassured Afghanistan that it will continue to support it in its efforts to build a peaceful, stable and united country where the democratic and pluralistic aspirations of the Afghan people are met. This was conveyed to Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Hekmat Karzai during his meetings here, the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said, adding that the visiting minister also called on Minister of State M J Akbar. Karzai had met Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and Secretary (ER) Amar Sinha. The Afghan minister also apprised the India side of the present security situation and efforts being made by the Government towards peace and reconciliation in the country.

Kejriwal reflects on defeat, says losing part of politics

Among the 85 Secretaries in the central government only two belong to the Scheduled Caste and as many are from the Scheduled Tribe community, Rajya Sabha was informed today. Minister of State for Personnel, Pensions and Public Grievances Jitendra Singh, in a written reply, said that there were a total of 747 officers holding the ranks of Director and above in the central government. He also released giving the total number of officers holding the ranks of Director and above at the Centre under the Central Staffing Scheme.
