NACHO MAMA

Wednesday, November 15, 2017

Crispy and crunchy, if there’s anything that can give French fries a run for their money in the comfort food department, it would be nachos. The Mumbai Mix Team rounds up some of their favourites from around the city

Soon after nachos were invented, they began to gain popularity as a snack. But, did you know that the chip and cheese snack originated in quite an accidental style? Ignacio Anaya, who was often called ‘nacho’ for short, found himself in a predicament in the kitchen of his restaurant one day. The chef was nowhere to be found but Ignacio didn’t have the heart to turn away hungry patrons. So he pulled on the chef’s hat and mixed together the ingredients closest to him — tortilla chips, cheese and jalapeño peppers. And thus was born the Mexican — or we can safely say, international — staple, named after the creator himself! All this talk of food making you hungry? Head over to these restaurants in the city that serve up delicious preparations of the dish.

CRISPY & CRUNCHY

If you love your nachos crisp, head over to The Irish House, which serves crispy corn tortillas smothered in seasoned black beans, spicy jalapeños and fresh peppers. To make the appetizer even more scrumptious, it is served with sour cream, fresh tomato salsa and seasonal guacamole.
