From off the ramp to off the rack, there are endless bag trends that have won our hearts. Aakriti Patni brings you the hottest bag trends this season

From satchels, totes and cross-bodies to suede and leather handbags, the styles are endless! Bags are an essential piece of your wardrobe and your look is simply incomplete if you don’t have a handbag to complement it. With gorgeous designs, intricate embroidery and embellishments, and luxurious fabric, a handbag is what every woman wants to add elegance and style to their outfit. If you’re looking for the hottest handbag trends this season to up the ante on your fashion game, then look no further! We look at the luxury brands that have defined and most often been the creative minds behind the latest handbag revolutions in the fashion industry.

Statement straps are what handbags are all about this year, and from rainbow colours to embroidered prints and even embellished straps, there are some truly quirky designs and coloured straps out there. These handbags pair well with dark solid colours, especially if you want your handbag to be the highlight of your outfit. While Italian luxury brand Fendi may have been the trendsetter when it comes to this style, English couture designer Anya Hindmarch is hot on their heels. And, the Paperchain Mini Vere Satchel from Anya Hindmarch’s AW 2017 collection is one of the most stylish and trendy choices out there!

Velvet and suede handbags have been everyone’s pick for the past few seasons, but fur handbags have made a comeback… and we aren’t complaining. There’s no better accessory for a black-tie event than that classy fur evening bag. Adding that touch of elegance, fur evening bags are sophisticated and trendy, and luxury brands are the first to jump on this bandwagon. British luxury brand Ted Baker’s AW 2017 collection brings out the best of faux fur as they introduce FUZZI, a leather cross-body bag with a soft faux fur flap.

While oversized satchels and totes have been popular, a reverse trend has hit the runway — micro bags. Adorably cute and small, they may not be the most practical handbag out there (let’s face it, they aren’t going to house more than just one lipstick, are they now?), but they roll in to another trend that designers have been promoting — the multiple bag trend. Micro bags can easily be used single-headedly or as a pouch for your larger handbag. With their Micro Peekaboo handbag collection, Fendi can be hailed as the guru of this handy trend.

Characterised by funky designs and quirky colours, graphic purses have quickly gained popularity in the fashion world, and have become one of the hottest trends. And, bags were not the ones to be left behind. From high-street brands to luxury and couture designers, practically everyone has fallen prey to this vibrant trend. Italian luxury brand Dolce and Gabbana is known for their out-of-the-box and jazzy designs, and this trend falls squarely in their domain. Their Fall Winter 2017-18 Nuovo Rinascimento collection is loaded with graphic concepts and ideas that adorn their accessories and apparel, and the Lucia Shoulder Bag is their signature item championing the graphic trend.

From envelope handbags to box clutches, various shapes have made their way on to the runway, and the latest for the season is the completely round figure. Combining elusive feminine charm by elegant facets, the round shape is characterised with bold and solid colours. But while it may not be for everybody, it’s a subtle and charming change to the regular shapes of handbags. Chloe, the French luxury brand that is known for its softly shaped bags, excels in this trend, executing the round shape in a delicate and subdued manner with their range of Pixie bags from their Winter 2017 collection.

It’s all about brand name at the end of the day, and designers are jumping on to this trend like never before. Chic branded logos are gloriously decorating bags and each design and brand outdoes itself as it ‘brands’ purses with logos. While you may not see the appeal in flashing garish logo names just for the sake of it, American designer Marc Jacobs and his latest Logo Denim Tote bag is sure to change your opinion. Classy yet modern, and in keeping with the trend, Marc Jacobs managed to outdo his competition effortlessly with this bag.
