Here’s an itch you just can’t help but pick at — buying into the latest mosquito repellent. Anindra Siqueira tries out the new Good knight Fabric Roll-On repellent and gives you his verdict

As far as mosquito repellents go, very few things seem to work — or work well enough. The coils that you burn or the liquid that you have on a slow boil in fancy vaporizers seems to lull the mosquitoes in your house for a short while, before they bounce back, seemingly stronger. And, the alternative, using aerosol sprays to keep mosquitoes and other biting insects in check, may not be safe for your respiratory health. So, your options are limited and you are losing the fight against these tiny, annoying insects. It seems as though new products that claim to protect against mosquitoes are being introduced quite regularly and the latest is Good knight’s Fabric Roll-On Personal Mosquito Repellent. But, what is it? And, is it any good?

The new mosquito repellent is just like a roll-on deodorant, but should not be applied directly on your skin. It’s a strong-smelling concoction that contains citronella and eucalyptus oil. Initially, we were a little sceptical. The packaging promised a lot — 100% natural; just four dots do the trick; protection from mosquitoes even outdoors! It all seemed a bit much. But, at the same time, we loved the packaging. It’s tiny, which makes it very convenient to carry around.

However, all doubt was dispelled when we used it. Even though it is designed for outdoor use, it is also extremely effectively indoors. You will want to take it everywhere, and the great thing is that you can replace all the electricity draining repellent dispensers with just a small bottle, if you don’t mind the strong smell. We can’t vouch for the non-staining formula on all types of fabric — we used it on a limited range of fabric types — but didn’t encounter any staining. It also lasts for a fairly long time once it’s applied — at least indoors. We can’t be sure how long it lasts, because it may depend on how much you apply, but we’ll take the company’s eight-hour claims at face value.

We can tell you with absolutely certainity however, that everything has changed with this pocket sized bottle of mosquito repellent. Try it! You won’t look back.
