“If voted to power, the BJP along with the RSS will definitely show its real fascist face. But we are confident that the electorate have seen through this evil design and will defeat such communal forces,” said former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan while addressing an election campaign rally in the Muslim-dominated Naya Nagar area in Mira Road on Sunday night.
Chavhan was seeking votes for Congress candidates – Yakub Qureshi (Mira-Bhayandar) and Prabhat Patil (Ovala-Majiwada). “Owing to their extortionist rule and goondaism, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance had been kicked out of power in 1999 and it took us 15 years to put Maharashtra back on the road to economic stability and development,” Chavan said.
Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lowering the standard of political discourse, Chahan said that Modi instead of talking about his administrative vision had been concentrating more on politics. Speaking on the development plank, Chavan said that his government has not only extended financial assistance to local self-governing bodies, but has also initiated various projects including the Metro, Monorail and Eastern Freeway. Moreover decks have been cleared for pumping in Rs 11,500 crore to boost industries which will open ample opportunities of employment in the state. MLC Muzaffar Hussain, Sanjay Dutt were present at the rally.
