'Virtual Id' practical in a non-tech-savvy nation?

Friday, January 12, 2018

UIDAI launches 'Virtual ID' to address privacy concerns which certainly enhances safety to your Aadhaar data with the government, but not sure how it can work satisfactorily in a nation that is not tech-savvy, also considering majority of people living in rural areas with limited education and learning? Creating a random 16-digit number for every authentication would be a humongous task for many and remembering which Id one has given and where, would be a gigantic task. Nandan Nilekani, the man behind Aadhaar is doing his best to make Aadhaar foolproof and nobody doubts his intentions or for that matter of the govt. 'Multiple Virtual ID's' can work when every citizen is tech literate, has a data service attached to his cellphone and is educated. Also, what happens to those who have already linked their Aadhaar to various services including mobile phones? In a country where citizens have lost crores of rupees that have been siphoned off by hacking and other illegal means, hiding your Aadhaar number by creating temporary virtual IDs again seems impossible. However, one would need to wait and watch than think negatively and let us hope Nandan has something up his sleeve to really make Aadhaar unique as well as beneficial for the country and its citizens!

Prime minister Narendra Modi's led BJP government that has linked the Aadhaar card to every part of the common people's lives including the dead bodies at the time of funeral, has created lots of problems and has become a hell for the people across the country. People are still running from pillar to post and have been struggling in their day to day life rather than having peaceful and smooth life. I strongly feel that the day the NaMo government came to power in 2014, he is wasting his precious time on small matters and making the country backward rather than giving priority to important issues concerning country and people. The urgent need of the hour is to end this problem and the harassment that is being caused by Aadhaar issue, which has become a nuisance for everybody.
