Team India tastes T-20 defeat

Friday, March 09, 2018

Tri series between India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh would go on despite call for an emergency by the Sri Lankan government. Team India which is repeatedly touring Sri Lanka repeatedly under the guise of playing limited overs cricket before the 2019 World Cup, suffered a humiliating T-20 defeat at the hands of the host side. Kusal Perera hammered Shardul Thakur for 27 runs in one over with 5 fours and one six to set the ball rolling. His 22 ball fifty set the tone for a rare T-20 win against India. The top order failure is the major cause and poor death bowling in power play bowling all caused defeat. SriLanka comfortably won the first T20 match against India by 5 wickets on Tuesday, in Colombo. Kusal Perera was the star for the hosts as his 66 runs coupled with crucial contributions by Thisara Perera and Upul Tharanga helped Sri Lanka cross the finishing line. Kusal hit four sixes and six fours in reaching his match-winning knock of 66 runs. It was a convincing run-chase for Sri Lanka as they reached the target on 18.3 overs itself. The first over dismissal of Rohit Sharma started the slide for an emphatic win for Sri Lanka. The young Indian side feel the heat from the first game.

Sri Lanka played beautifully to beat India by 5 wickets in the First T20. India scored 174 for 5 in 20 overs, thanks to 90 runs knock by Shikhar Dhawan and 37 runs by Manish Pandey and the hosts chased the target by scoring 175 for 5 wickets and won the first T20 at the Sri Lankan pitch after a long time. Rohit Sharma scored a duck and Raina; 1 run and the India was in for a shock with 2 wickets down in quick time. India lost to a better side on a Sri Lankan wicket which was helping the bowlers and India struggled to make an impact in the match and Sri Lanka went 1-0 up in the T20 match first time after a brief moment. India was humbled to a Sri Lankan side which showed better application and India had themselves to blame. A win in the 19th over of the match which India should have won. Bravo, SriLanka, the Tamil tigers have done well again!
