Team India bowls their heart out against South Africa!

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

Cape Town proved rape town for our cricket team which surrendered to South Africa to give the home side 1-0 lead in the ongoing series. Our strong batting line-up let the country down after a splendid show from our bowlers who bowled their heart out to restrict South Africa to just 130 in the second innings and 208 to win should have been easily achieved by our team. Lions at home and paper tigers abroad is the perfect idiom to describe our team as this script is being played out year after year. Kohli and his men have begun the New Year on a losing note but this shock was necessary for our over-hyped team to work on their shortcomings. We are touring abroad after two years and we need to play regularly away from home on bouncy wickets before we call ourselves the number one Test playing team in the world. South Africa played brilliantly and deserves kudos for this win. Hope our team gets their basics right to bounce back in the 3-match series which should be on the cards with our bowlers putting up a great show!

The South African cricket team needs a pat on their backs for their 1-0 win over India in the first Test match at Cape Town. India have themselves to blame for this defeat. The South Africans were reeling at 12 for the loss of three wickets, thanks to Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and they let the match slip allowing the South Africans to score 286 runs. India batted poorly and if had not been for Hardik Pandya's gutsy innings of 93 runs, India would not have reached the score of 209 all out. The best of India at home came a cropper in the first test Match. Dale Steyn, Morkell, Philander all bowled beautifully and India had no answer to the moving deliveries outside the off stump. Muralidhar Vijay and Shikhar Shawna got starts but perished due to their own weak technique of playing the moving ball. South Africans had a first innings lead of 77 runs which proved costly for India. The second innings saw South Africa in a spot of bother and were bowled out for 130 runs on the fourth day. Dale Steyn injured and out of the Test match and still the South Africans bowled beautifully on a wicket which saw India lose ten wickets in a single day and India lost the first Test match by 72 runs.

The batsmen perished again and the hosts had the last laugh. Virat Kohli had no answer and accepted his teams folly of not playing well in the Test match. 1-0 up and a well deserved win for South Africa and India can only blame themselves for this loss. South Africa won the toss and the match in this important Test match. India lost after a long time though. Kudos to Team South Africa for their marvellous win at home and going ahead in the series.

India has to think in a different way in the next Test. Wow, what a game of cricket over in four days with a day to spare. The think tank of coach Ravi Shastri, had no answer for this loss. The best team was undoubtedly South Africa and India made it difficult to win by allowing South Africa that extra luxury of loose balls. Great team work by South Africa brought cheer to their fans back home.

They never allowed the Indians to play freely in this Test match and the mistakes that Indians did, made them lose this important Test match. A great Test match and a much needed win and confidence on a high. Superb Proteas and a weak India.
