Music for mental health

JetSynthesys’ Music Boutique, led by Shameer Tandon along with Ashish Patil, Head of Y-Films (the youth film division of YRF Yash Raj Films), visited the Ministry of Culture & Education, India. With World Mental Health Day being observed on October 10, the team took this opportunity to discuss the role of music and education of children with mental health issues.

On this day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma, Y-Films and Music Boutique’s initiative highlights the importance of promoting and protecting adolescent health of young adults to be able to make greater contributions to their families, communities and society as a whole.

Fitness festival

The International Health, Sports and Fitness Festival, a three-day-event, takes place on October 12, 13 and 14. Athletes, fitness enthusiasts,  businesses, and spectators from around the globe are expected to attend, to celebrate health, wellness and life. Heart recipients support group

Fortis Hospital Mulund has launched a support group named ‘Samvedna’ for persons who have undergone  heart transplants at the hospital since August 2015. Launched to mark World Heart Day 2018, the  initiative brought together over 40 heart recipients from Mumbai and beyond  including Aaradhya Mule (age 4), Ahanti Sahane (7), Madhavi Vishwakarma (9) and Suhana Shaikh (14) Samvedna will help recipients share experiences and concerns, seek aid, and contribute to supporting  each other to live a productive post-transplant life. The hospital also announced a separate OPD for the recipients, which will be headed by interventional cardiologist Dr Talha Meeran. A  team of cardiac experts led by Dr Anvay Mulay, Head, Cardiac Transplant Team and psychologist Nishita Choudhari also  hosted sessions on ‘life after undergoing a transplant’ for the recipients who will meet monthly.

Dr S. Narayani, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital, Mulund, said, “The post-transplant journey is a life changing experience for the patients and their families. For waitlisted patients, Samvedna will provide much needed experience-based support until and beyond their transplant”.
