Fitness begins in your kitchen

Former Miss India Navneet Kaur Dhillon, who will be seen in her forthcoming film, Amavas, describes her fitness routine

What is your exercise routine?

I work out six days a week, one hour every day. I practice Yoga and Zumba on alternate days.

What diet do you follow?

I do not follow any strict diet. But I eat in small portions at least six times a day. Each meal must be healthy and nutritious. I also sometimes have my share of junk food.

What about sweets? How do you avoid them?

Honestly. I’m not really fond of sweets. When it comes to sweets I like to eat fruits instead. But I think when you are asked to avoid anything you tend to think more about it. So I guess people who enjoy eating sweets a lot must eat in small portions. As and when you have a sweet craving you must have a small piece of chocolate, instead of a full one, or have a cookie. So eat a little bit of whatever you are craving for.

Your opinion on health bars

Like I said, I’m not really a fan of sweets and most health bars are sweet. So I don’t indulge in them often, unless I haven’t eaten anything at all before my workout. They're a convenient alternative for someone who would otherwise be reaching for a doughnut or some other unhealthy snack.

Most fit celebrity according to you

Not just one but two. According to me Deepika-Ranveer are the fittest celebrity couple.

Advice for gym newbies

Be patient. Results don’t show overnight. Most importantly stay far away from unnatural and unhealthy ways of losing weight and gaining muscle. Just be regular and eat healthy. And remember fitness begins in your kitchen.
