Music magic

Saturday, June 08, 2019

Sin City was the happy venue for ‘Nightingale of New England’ Anuradha Palakurthi’s Juju Productions to launch the title song of the album ‘Jaan Meri’ which saw an impromptu live music act by super singer Bappi Lahiri and passionate percussionist Sivamani with Bappa Lahiri cheering them on. Speaking straight from the heart was Jeetendra and also present at the launch were Kumar Sanu, Sameer Anjaan, Sanjay Gupta, Lalit Pandit, Franco Vaz, Shibani Kashyap and Sharmila Nayak among others. Looking pleased as punch was the song composer Ustad Nishat Khan who, while rooted in classical music, opted for a modern and majestic feel. The song was picturised by Sanjay Gupta in Azerbaijan. Ankita Maity’s kathak presentation with a mix of love, heartbreak, pathos, self-doubt and, finally, using art to find inner strength and conquer darkness was much appreciated. Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner completed this musical night to remember.
