Happy honour

Saturday, April 14, 2018

Filmmaker Shona Urvashi struck a fine figure as she was conferred the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France’s highest cultural award for her contribution to bringing the new wave of independent cinema in India and improving the ease for foreign films and talent to work in and with India. Consul General of France Yves Perrin bestowed this honour on the Indo-Canadian film-maker and mentor in an intimate soiree at his residence. You heard of Shona’s work as a film-maker where she curated and executed cross-platform projects and ad campaigns. Perhaps her most impactful, yet least publicised contribution, has been her passion for helping independent film-makers network with national and international film communities and promoting foreign projects to film in India while striving towards more collaborative efforts using home-grown talent. And it was time to indulge in delightful drinks and food in the room filled with cheer and camaraderie.
