Young Scientists of Mumbai felicitated by Rotary Club

Eight young scientist teams of Mumbai with their guide teachers and Principals were honoured and felicitated by Rotary Club of Mumbai South recently at the Bahai Center Hall in Churchgate.

As the programme was held to celebrate 'National Science Day', the main purpose of the event was Science Propagation, Science Popularization and to promote and explore various inherent distinguishing qualities of students.

The programme was inaugurated by adoration and floral tribute to Dr. C. V. Raman by Sanatan Modi – the Rotary President followed by the lighting of the lamp by Nargis Gaur – the A.G. of Rotary Club.

The research team students of Don Bosco High School, Matunga set the mood welcoming the dignitaries by singing a medley  - Love song to the Earth and The Climate song, enthralling the audience.

Students of Sadhana Vidyalaya, Sion presented the inquisitive Science Song. The Dhanager Nrutya, the Shepherd Dance performed by Pradnya Bodhini School Goregaon East, roistered in the programme.

As one of the objectives of the programme was Science and Social Awareness, Poster and Slogan Exhibition on “Clean, Green and Healthy India" was also displayed. The meaningful posters were prepared by VPM's Vidya Mandir, Dahisar, Holy Angel's Marthoma high school, Mulund (East) and Swadhya Bhavan Wadala, The catchy, informative slogans were the collective efforts of Bombay Cambridge High School, Andheri (W); J. J. Academy, Mulund (E) and Godrej Udayachal High School, Vikhroli.  

Two videos, one on posters and other on slogans were prepared by MKES high School, Malad, and Vidya Nidhi High school, Juhu, Andheri respectively.

Nargis Gaur clicked the button for the video to open and inaugurated the Exhibition. This was followed by a presentation of the Annual Report -National Children Science Congress 2018 explicitly showing the journey traversed, starting from Resource Person's Workshop to Escorting child scientists to National Level.

Nargis Gaur our guest gave a very inspiring key-note address motivating the children to pursue their dream and take India to be one of the economic powers of the world.

All eight projects which were selected for the national level NCSC 2018 held in Bhuvaneshwar in this academic year have top-class research work done. But one project got an A+ grade at the Nationals.

That project was of Holy Angel's High school, Mulund.  These students made a video sharing glimpses of their project and the standard and quality of their research work.

A Science Short Film Festival was launched by the NavNirman Vidnyan Prabodhan .The organization envisage to create a series of short films based on important basic Concepts in Science. One such short film made by  Ms. Hemali Thakar was introduced by Sampada Joshi, CEO of Navneet Prakashan, as a sample in this program.

B.B. Jadhav – President of NCSC Mumbai Division has formed a good network of dedicated and enthusiastic principals, science teachers and science-loving persons. 
With the help of this team, the entire function of NCSC was workout successfully. Therefore those who carried out important responsibilities like District Coordinator, Hosts of District level Children Science Congress, Resource Persons, Registrations of Entry forms and Organizing Committee members of NCSC 2018 were also felicitated. The main highlight of the program was honouring B B Jadhav and N D Panaskar with “Gem of Science” award by Rotary Club of Mumbai South.
