I have just given my SSC exams and awaiting for my result. I want to make a career in hotel industry and want to start my own hotel. I need your guidance in understanding the different options available and the choice of colleges.
—Shivani Wagh

It is nice to know that you are clear about your next course of action as well as your goal. As of now, seek admission in any of the stream. After class XII, seek admission for the Bachelor’s program in Hospitality/ Hotel Management – gather some work experience and then opt for a Master’s program like MBA [hotel management] or venture into opening of your own restaurant/ hotel. The admission to the Bachelor’s program is based on the scores in entrance exam as well as the group discussion and interview and hence ensure that you perform your best to get into the college of your choice.

I am currently studying in SYJC Arts and wish to pursue psychology ahead. Does B.Sc in psychology start from the first year itself or do I have to continue with Arts first and then start with my B.Sc after a year or two? What will be the subjects in degree college? When do I switch to Science? From which year do I start specializaion? Can you name some good universities  in Mumbai where I can apply after XII?
— Darani S

Please note that B.Sc. /B.A. are nomenclatures as used by various Universities. Generally in the 1st year, there is only 1 paper of Psychology followed by 2 or 3 papers in the 2nd year and only in the last years there are 6 papers of Psychology which is the year of Specialisation. There is no need to switch to Science for studying Psychology as in Mumbai, no University offers B.Sc. –Psychology.  In Mumbai, there are only 2 regular Universities i.e. University of Mumbai and SNDT University.

I am pursuing BBA (Finance), I don't want to do PG in Regular Finance. Is there any other options in Finance for PG rather than MBA Finance? And Also What are the chances for Event Management.
—Mohit Nandi

Since you are not keen for any of the PG/ Management program in Finance you can opt for M.Com. or take up professional courses like CA/ICWA/CS and likewise or enrol for short-term training programs as offered by NSE/BSE/ Insurance Companies and so on.
