I am interested in art and design. I am also very passionate about cars and automobiles. Can you suggest any suitable courses in the US at an undergraduate level? — Krupa Sharma
The US has several well-known design institutes. They offer a wide variety of programs like: Graphic Design, Product Design, Software Design, Web Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Accessory Design, Interface Design, Automotive Design and Industrial Design to name a few.  Considering your passion for cars you may also consider: Transportation Design, Automotive Design and Industrial Design. Some colleges may specifically offer Transportation or Automotive Design programs, while most colleges will offer courses in it under the department of Industrial Design.  The popular design schools in the US are: RISD-Rhode Island School of Design, Pratts, SCAD-Savannah College of Art and Design, Academy of Art University and Art Centre College of Design.

My son is planning to apply to the United States for Fall 2020.  Can you please provide a list of all the Financial Documents  that we will need to submit along with the application?
— Chandni Patel

Most colleges will require that International students submit proof of financial responsibility showing sufficient financial support for education in the United States. Some of the documents that you may need are:
Certificate of Finances/Financial Statement (Available on the College Website).
Official Letter or Statement from Parent(s) or Sponsor(s) Bank.
Sponsorship Letter.
However, these documents may not be required by all colleges at the time of application. Several colleges will ask for financial documents at the time of sending the I-20 or after you are offered admission.  Some colleges may have specific requirements other than those mentioned here.

Hello. I'm currently studying in FY at Flames University, Pune. I am considering transferring to a US-based university. My SAT score is 1400. Would it be preferable to apply as a transfer student, or a freshman altogether?
— Shamini Lalbhai

Please note that when you apply as a Freshman student, your application will go as a GAP year application. You will need to justify the GAP in your application with the help of an essay. Also, you will have to repeat the number of years that you have already spent in college in India as you will not be able to earn any credits for it.  In case of a transfer student, you will be able to earn partial credits for your education in India. However, the Transfer Application depends on the number of seats that have been vacated during the current year and may be subject to availability. Also, most colleges will need that you complete 1 year of education in college before you are eligible to apply as a Transfer Student.
