My son’s dream college for undergraduate admissions is Princeton University. Can you please let me know what does Princeton look for in its applicants?
— Rajiv Mehra

Princeton University review’s each application individually to get a sense of that student’s particular combination of strengths. We don't have a profile of the ideal applicant or the ideal class. In fact, one of Princeton’s greatest strengths is the variety of talents, personal qualities, experiences and points of view in each incoming class. Princeton university looks for student qualities like: integrity, a deep interest in learning and a devotion to both academic and non-academic pursuits. Many students also bring distinctive academic and extracurricular talents and achievements. Beyond those fundamental qualities, it also considers how each candidate might contribute to the community we will bring together for that year’s class.

My son is studying in Grade XI-AS levels. He is applying for Engineering to the UK later this year. Does he require the SAT test to apply for admissions to UK universities?
— Yukti Shrivastava

The UK admission system offers a Conditional Offer to you based on your predicted grades in Grade XII. The main component of your application is your Transcript along with your Predicted Grades of Grade XII. The UK does NOT require the scores of your SAT test for admissions.

I will complete my B. Engineering in Computer Engineering next year. I was interested in going to the US for further studies. While researching a few programs I found that colleges offer an M. Eng as well as a MS degree. Can you please explain the difference between a M. Eng. and a MS degree?
— Puja Brahmakshatriya

A M. Eng is a 1 year professional degree targeted at students that intend to go to work in industry and is often course/skill based.  A M.S. degree is typically a research degree that requires a student to complete a thesis of novel research; the degree typically takes 2-3 years to complete and is frequently the first step on the way to a PhD.
