Wednesday, January 10, 2018

The Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) department of Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce (VESASC) held its annual inter-collegiate festival “Impressions 2018” over January 5-7, enabling students of the media stream to showcase their talents across varied media disciplines like graffiti, short-film making and PR. Students from more than 25 colleges in Mumbai participated in the fest  whose theme was “Livin on the Chord” with the core idea of promoting music and use it as a PR tool.

“Impressions is the longest running media festival in the city and provides an experiential learning platform for media students. It provides the much-needed environment for students to understand the current trends in media across diverse streams such as advertising, public relations and marketing,” stated Dr. Shikha Dutta, HOD, BMM Department of VES

In its 15th consecutive edition, Impressions has returned with a sonorous bang, combining the finer aspects of music and media like never before.
The festival provided a platform for students to exchange experiences and share ideas. Keeping competition and challenges as its core theme, the festival provided a conducive environment for students to engage in the discussions of emerging media techniques and practices.

“Impressions is no more a festival for me, it has become an emotion in last 2 years. This is my third year as an organiser in Team Impressions and i am very glad to be a part of this longest running media festival. It has helped me groom my personality on a holistic manner. I used to be a shy person in my first year and my stint as an organizer with Team Impressions has helped me to co-ordinate with media professionals and honed my fest management capabilities. It has also inculcated a deep sense of professionalism in me and enhanced my knowledge of media,” Stated Sanatan Chaudhari, TYBMM student, VES

The festival has been conceptualized as a podium to spot, hone and nurture the next-gen media professional from among the vast talent pool of students present with the help of luminaries like Bharat Sinha from Phantom Films who will be a key presence at the fest. Presence of celebrity judges like Mushtaq Khan, Karan Goddwani, Sameer Kochchar, Ashish Chanchalani, Imam Siddiqui and Deepak Dobriyal upped the glamor quotient for the festival.

The festival was a veritable celebration of the Arts with the blending of music, dance, literature and fashion. The Theme of Impressions 18 “Livin on the Chord” acknowledging the contributions of legendary bands to keeping the spirit of music and rock vibrant.

The BMM Department of VES has been instrumental in dedicatedly managing and organizing the longest running media festival in the city.
