Mumbai's Pioneer Legal Fest Turns 20

The 20th edition of Law Tryst, a three day National Legal Fest, was successfully inaugurated on its first day, last week. Law Tryst was pioneered in the year 2000 by SVKM’s Jitendra Chauhan College of Law. Every year at Law Tryst events such as Moot Court, Model Parliament, Law firm Management and many more are conducted. These events are judged by the prominent dignitaries, advocates and judges from High Court.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by dignitaries like Assistant Commissioner of Police of Santacruz Division Dattatray Bhargude, Senior Police Inspector P. Wavhal of Juhu Police Station and Advocate Kulkarni, Government Pleader at Bombay High Court. Client Counselling event witnessed several renowned Advocates of the Bombay High Court. “It is our privilege to host the 20th Edition of Law Tryst. The journey began in the year 2000, and we are proud to be the pioneers of Legal Fest,” said Dr Priya J Shah, I/c Principal of SVKM’s Jitendra Chauhan College of Law. Zain Javed Shroff, Chairperson of JCCL’s Law Tryst said, “Events such as Draftsmanship, The Jaëger, Client Counselling and a few more were conducted on day one of Law Tryst. The theme for this year’s fest is ‘The Election Year’ keeping in mind the upcoming General Elections 2019. Students from various law colleges across India participate in Law Tryst.”

Assistant Commissioner of Police Dattatray Bhargude felt privileged and honored to be the Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony of Law Tryst for a second consecutive year.

On the occasion of Women’s day,  he expressed that he is a firm believer of equality and never differentiated between the female and male child. In his own words, "I strongly supports the idea of girl being independent and treated with respect and at par with men in the society.” Advocate Kirti Kulkarni expressed her curiosity towards the word ‘Tryst' of Law Tryst to the audience since it intrigued her. She said, “I really appreciate the colorful creativity of Law Tryst, moving on from mundane black and white.”

She not only appreciated the efforts taken by the Team Law Tryst, but also shared examples and experiences regarding women empowerment, being the Women’s day. Senior Inspector Wavhal, Juhu Police Station graced the Inauguration ceremony of Law Tryst. Sheetal Talvar, Legal head of Tata Chemicals also graced the ceremony and enlightened the students on Food Laws of India.
