THE phenomenal progress of the BJP appears to have stunned opposition political parties in the country. They are thinking about their survival and have started consulting one another. Each party has realised that by itself it cannot take on the BJP. They are aware that the situation will be worse for them if they do not undertake some new measures to deal with the BJP. They are desperate now as they realise that even the few states they have now are likely to be lost for them. Bahujan Samaj Party's chief Mayawati has called for an united front against the BJP. All parties should form a Maha Gathbandan and initiate a combined attack on the BJP. Mayawati has got ready support from Akhilesh Yadav of the SP. And Akhilesh wants the Congress to join this group. The Congress however has not made a clear statement in this regard. The Congress still sticks to the illusion that it had only a temporary setback and it will bounce back soon. Whereas Mayawati and Akhilesh head state parties, the Congress is an all-India party. Finally perhaps it has to also join other political parties across the country and fight the BJP. Another leader who may join this front is Aam Admi Party's Arvind Kejriwal. Recent setbacks for him show that he may lose in Delhi soon. In the recent elections in Delhi, the AAP's candidate lost his deposit.
Chances are an anti-BJP front all over the country may be formed. It is however too late as the BJP has already become a big invisible party. The next conquest of the BJP will be Odisha, Gujarat and Delhi.
