Power for BJP

Friday, March 15, 2019

THE largest single party that will emerge in the Lok Sabha elections is likely to be the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The support each party gets in the election is likely to be different. For instance, where as Mayawati and Akhilesh have a chance to dominate a state in the North, they do not have a ghost of chance to make slightest impact in Tamil Nadu. The BJP’s popularity is also not the same in all parts of the country. The same thing goes for established parties like the Congress. The support of people is different in the various states in the country. The Lok Sabha poll may therefore result in different kinds of victory.

In spite of this, the idea of Mahaghatabandhan has showed up a bit. The ghatabandhan by the opposition parties is not likely to be formed immediately. It does not seem to have much chance of success.

Despite the jibes thrown at him, despite the abuses hurled at him, BJP’s Modi is likely to survive in the Lok Sabha elections. And his party may come out as the largest majority party in the Lok Sabha.

That Priyanka Gandhi is not a voters’ favourite will be shown in this election. After Indira Gandhi’s exit, the capacity of the Congress to pull the crowds has ended. Even a second chance cannot be given to the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. People have moved away from the leaders of the Congress. The Congress is in power only as an alliance partner in some states. The Gandhi family has been lucky for sometime, but it is no longer there.
