Is Rahul Gandhi a Christian?

Friday, December 01, 2017

Did Rahul Gandhi declare that he was a non-Hindu at the Somnath temple? He visited the place on Wednesday and put his signature on the book on which non-Hindus are expected to put their signature. The Congress party leaders are greatly upset. If it becomes known he is a non-Hindu, there will be adverse reactions for the party by the people in Gujarat. Congress leaders have hastened to clarify that Rahul Gandhi is a pure Brahmin and that he wears the sacred thread. And they say he put his signature only on the visitor's book. The BJP has risen fast to make capital out of the incident. It is now being said that Rahul Gandhi is a Catholic. His mother, it is stated, brought him up as a Catholic. The New York Times in 1998 carried an article in which Rahul Gandhi was said to be a Catholic.

BJP leader Subramniam Swamy says Rahul goes to church every Sunday. he adds: “Rahul should accept he is a Christian.”

Gujarat is not known much as place where there are many Christians. It is mostly a Hindu Gujarat. The BJP has lost no time exploiting the highly favourable situation. They have already spread the news widely that Rahul Gandhi is a Christian. Is the Congress lying?

The Congress knows very well that the Somnath temple incident will work against his poll chances. BJP's Amit Shah has been quick enough to use the sizzling news for his party's poll chances.
