Ex-President Pranab and the RSS

Saturday, June 09, 2018

A PROPOSAL has been put forth already that if political parties form an united opposition in the 2019 poll and come to power, Pranab Mukherjee could be the person to be chosen as the prime minister. At an event to which he was welcomed by the RSS, he made a brief, impressive speech. Before the Congress party's strong objection to his attending a RSS event, it was stated that Pranab had said nothing. In his speech he praised Congress leaders more than those of the RSS. He described a Congress leader Hegdewar who was the founder of the RSS as a great son of India. In fact, there was not much praise of any party or association. At the end of the speech, the Congress stopped all criticism about him. Pranab Mukherjee created a great impression at the event and also on millions on television.

The fact is it would be too much for him to expect Congress Party President Rahul Gandhi as his leader. Pranab Mukherjee does not seem to have given up politics. He will eventually have an important place in the nation's scenario.

It was evident, from the shape of things, Pranab Mukherjee has great respect for the RSS. It is totally different view of the RSS that Pranab Mukherjee has. The Congress hates the RSS, talks about this group contemptuously. Pranab does not apparently share his view of the RSS with the Congress. Thanks to the UPA Congress at the helm for a long while, the RSS, a "terror group" had become an untouchable for a long while. Pranab Mukherjee does not share the Congress view on the RSS. The ex-president's visit has made out that the RSS is not the devil the Congress has made it out to be.
