Troublesome tattoos

Monday, December 04, 2017

Are you a fan of tattoos? Your Diarist certainly isn’t. Small and squiggly, or big and brash, a tattoo is an unwarranted distraction on a person’s body and does not enhance his or her appeal in any way. It’s one of those silly fashion fads that should never have been encouraged, declares your Diarist!

Turns out that tattoos can be more than just distracting. They can be downright dangerous, No, we’re not talking about the scare of infected needles and toxic ink. We are referring to the strange incident that occurred in a Miami hospital, when paramedics wheeled in an unconscious man who had “Do Not Resuscitate” tattooed onto his chest!

What were the doctors supposed to do? Leave him to die? Or disregard the tattoo and initiate the resuscitation process anyway?

The doctors were in a dilemma as tattooed “Do Not Resuscitate” requests aren’t thought of as being legitimate by the Florida Division of Well being. Worse still, the doctors were unable to immediately trace the person’s relations to clarify the matter.

However, this being America, the doctors referred the matter to Ethics Consultants, who suggested to the doctors that the tattoo probably represented the individual’s needs and must be honored.

The man died within a single day thereafter, without additional lifesaving efforts.

Your Diarist is telling you, no good comes out of tattoos!
