Shilpa Shetty in Shirdi!

Monday, April 16, 2018

Film star Shilpa Shetty Kundra was in Shirdi yesterday. The actress tweeted on social media: “I come to Shirdi every year and after darshan, I’ve been religiously coming to this restaurant.” We were curious as to which restaurant it was, so we followed the Instagram link which led us to a video of the actress slurping and drooling over crisp ‘vadas’ and ‘sheera’ at a place called Swami Madras. Seems like the evergreen Shetty, as per her own admission, has been visiting the restaurant for the last three decades. In the video, she said her Sunday brunch yesterday was turning into a “Sunday binge” with deliciously tantalising ‘sheera’. Shilpa, with a queenly south Indian spread before her (including an oversize dosa) even called over the owner, Swami, to join her in the video. Swami seemed both thrilled and embarrassed simultaneously, if there can be such a thing, to have such unexpected acclaim. “Thirty years of being loyal to this restaurant,’ said Shilpa in her effervescent manner, sweeping up everyone from viewers to the restaurant owner in her spontaneous and heady enthusiasm.
