No choco delight

Monday, January 08, 2018

The Reserve Bank of India seems to have become rather prolific in the past 12 months when it comes to issuing new notes. Every few months they mint a fresh creation.

To be honest, it makes no difference to the average man on the street whether a note is pink or green in colour, whether it has some monument or another inked on its facade, or whether it is of a slightly smaller or bigger size.

What the aam aadmi is solely interested in is what that note can fetch him. With prices being at an all time high, the average citizen is waiting in vain for the “achhe din” that had been promised!

Meanwhile, the RBI has announced the launch of a new ten rupee note. They claim it is “chocolate coloured”.

What your Diarist simply wants to know is whether you can buy a decent bar of chocolate for ten rupees in India today? The answer is no. So, of what use is a chocolate-coloured note that cannot get you a chocolate?

Urjit Patel, the honourable RBI Governor, to please note!
