Money is not everything!

Monday, June 11, 2018

One of the best ways to live a self-actualised life (the term was first properly explained by 20th century psychologist Abraham Maslow to describe a fulfilled life), if you ask us, is to laugh a lot every day, show gratitude for all the blessings one already has and recognise what is really important for one’s life. In this respect, self-help guru Robin Sharma writes: “Fame and fortune rarely deliver joy + inner peace. The world right now is in a state of a lot of confusion. We’re going through a period in our culture where so many people are struggling. What I want to remind you, with great love and respect, is that money is only one form of wealth. The point is simply this – there are a lot of people with a lot of money and money is all those people have. There are many more, deeper forms of wealth that the world needs to emphasise – like the wealth you feel when you do beautiful work…the wealth you feel when you’re with your loved ones…the wealth of eating a great meal or drinking something you enjoy. There’s also the wealth you feel when you’re with nature, the wealth you feel when you’re reading a great book. There’s the wealth that you feel when you serve another human being as also the wealth you feel when you’re recording your gratitude in a journal. Let’s remember that money is only one form of wealth.” In the light of the essential equality of all life (when money, status, fame are stripped away to reveal the essential self) we couldn’t have said it any better!
