Meghna Ghai Puri's walking tour

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

Whistling Woods president, Meghna Ghai Puri, who’s just shifted residence from Bandra to Khar, recently undertook a post-sunset walking tour of Colaba along with her daughter Aanya and some friends. Among the places the group visited were the Mumbai High Court, Mumbai University, Flora Fountain, CST railway station, the Asiatic library as well as the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower and its surrounding region. Says Meghna: “We live in this city, yet there is so much we don’t know about it. While on the tour we learnt many historical details behind SoBo’s monuments which were quite fascinating.” The group’s tour guides for the evening were twentysomething lasses Ekta and Sejal of the tour company U/A Fundays who Meghna says did a pretty good job of showing them around the area.  The night tour made sense for the group because these places are usually too crowded during the daytime and they didn’t want to risk the toasty daytime weather either. Says Meghna: “The night-time gave us a different perspective of the city. It improved everything. We spent an hour and a half before calling it a day as the kids were tired. However, I believe the entire tour runs for two-and-a-half hours.” Incidentally, we gather that the group stopped by at the jukebox cafe for some refreshments along the way. After all, what good is a walking tour unless there’s some enlivening cheer to refuel with on the way?
