Elton John and Whitney Houston tribute concert

Friday, January 11, 2019

For those who love the songs of pop singers Whitney Houston and Elton John, producer Raell Padamsee is organising a tribute concert that will be sung by Indian singers Lisa Rodrigues and Sarosh Nanavaty (reprising Whitney) as well as Siddharth Meghani and Shahriyar Atai (singing Elton John). Called ‘The Elton John and Whitney Houston Tribute Show’, the playlist will feature such favourites as ‘Candle in the Wind’, ‘Circle of Life’, ‘Sacrifice’, ‘I Will Always Love You’, ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ and many more chartbusters. Says the talented Sarosh who was last seen in the musical play #SingIndiaSing: “Whitney was an immensely gifted powerhouse. It is an honour (and quite a task) to attempt her tunes. (At the show) we have her classic goose bump-inducing ballads and some up-tempo dance hits, something for everyone!” Adds Lisa: “It’s such a privilege to be given this opportunity especially on a platform like the NCPA. Whitney’s vocals were brilliant but it’s the emotion she brought to the songs and her big presence on stage that made them such legendary hits. I’m super excited about performing.” The show is directed by Karla Singh and as a bold innovation there will be a live RJ (Hrishi K) on stage interacting with the audience and revving things up. Chirag Agarrwal’s dancers will also display their neat dance moves. The concert is on at the Tata Theatre on Saturday, 19 January at 6.30pm.
