Bossaball comes to Mumbai

Wednesday, March 14, 2018

There’s a new extreme sport coming to town and it’s called bossaball. Developed by Belgian tennis player Filip Eyckmans, in 2003 and 2005, it is a robust combination of volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, capoeira and trampolining. Played on an inflatable surface that takes less than 45 minutes to set up, the air-filled playing surface calls into play a range of techniques, team tactics and strategies for success. A team sport it is played with two teams ranged against each other and each team has three to five players on a side. The fun thing is that it is usually accompanied by a Brazilian genre of music called Bossa Nova that often makes it much more entertaining for all involved, including the spectators. The official launch event for the sport is scheduled to take place this Friday at a Juhu hotel and will feature a face-off match between the teams of Spain and Netherlands. So, parents, don’t complain that kids nowadays have too many distractions!
