Arpita Khan Sharma's trauma on Instagram

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

The media has already reported how Salman Khan’s sibling Arpita Khan Sharma took to Instagram on Monday to express her feelings of undying support for brother Salman (“God bless all the people that can’t handle you or your success. I wish only positivity & happiness for you…may all the jealousy & negativity fade away”).  And that Salman replied with a post to his sister that said: “Tears of gratitude. To all my loved ones who are with me and never lost hope. Thank you for being there with all the love and support. God bless.” The Khan family, like every other family does at some stage of its life, is obviously going through an emotional upheaval that words cannot quite describe. While Salman may have reached dizzying heights of success and, in his own way, redefined the parameters of prosperity and abundance for a film star the fact is, that in contrast, he has been haunted by his misdemeanours/crimes for the last two decades. And while we can hardly claim to be a fan of his work (having seen just about one-and-a-half movies that he has acted in in our entire lifetime) we do feel empathy for anyone, irrespective of their station in life, who has to go through such extreme situations. From being among the most feted icons in the country to spending nights in jail, as someone insightfully remarked, is “such a contrast” and one that entails suffering for everyone involved.
