‘2.0’ the film, storms the box office worldwide

Wednesday, December 05, 2018

The sci-fi film ‘2.0’, which released last week, is breaking box office records for an Indian film and is reported to have grossed over Rs400 crore worldwide during its first five days. The Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar-Amy Jackson starrer, made on an estimated budget of Rs543 crore, is reported to be the most expensive Indian film ever made. This 3D film is made in Tamil and has a Hindi version that has already crossed the Rs100 crore collections mark. The music is scored by maestro AR Rahman. The plot, which is about how homegrown scientists help ‘the government investigate a threat that is beyond human understanding’, seems to have gone down well with the audiences so far and the visual effects are said to be outstanding. Actor Akshay Kumar for one, has received many plaudits on social media with industry colleagues Varun Dhawan, Dhanush, Tusshar Kapoor, AR Murugadoss, Milap Zaveri and Juhi Chawla coming forward to congratulate him so far. It reportedly took Akshay nearly six hours daily to put on and remove the prosthetics and make up as he shot for his part. Seems like it’s been worth it --wot say, Akshay?!
