Shivoham Institute of Performing Arts presented the debut Bharata Natyam performance by Vaishnavi Shetty at Mysore Association Auditorium. Vaishnavi performance was noteworthy for its fine command over technique and expressional excellence.

Vaishnavi is the disciple of accomplished Bharata natyam exponents Guru Nilesh Singha and Guru Mubina, who heads Shivoham Institute of Performing Arts. Vaishnavi as a representative of University of Mumbai, participated in the 34th National Youth Festival held in Chandigarh recently and has won the gold medal for her brilliant performance. Vaishnavi has participated in several other competitions and has always emerged as the winner, that truly reflects on the ardous training she has received, over the years undoubtedly a matter of pride for her mentors.

In order to render a brilliant performance, it is essential to be completely involved and to develop a fine understanding of the essentials of Bharata Natyam, Vaishnavi dances with a rare expertise with "joie-de-vivre", giving her heart and soul to the performance, which was evident right from the start of invocatory numbers to the elaborate Natakuranji Varnam and concluding with the intricate Revathi Thillana. Vaishnavi did complete justice to the choreography that revealed her talent in the expressions and in the precise execution of rhythmic patterns. While Bho Shambho described the dynamic dance of Lord Shiva, Radhe-Govinda portrayed the immortal love of Lord Krishna and Radha.

Vaishnavi received fine orchestral support from Guru Nilesh and Mubina for nattuvangam, Dr Somia for vocal, mridangam by Venkatesh, violin by Satish Seshadiri and flute by Kumar Krishnan, Ghatam by Shankar and moorsing by Shivanand Rao. Vaishnavi can rise onto become a top performer, provided she continues to dance with the same amount of passion, zeal and devotion.
