Jayantimala's Kala Kriti Kendra and Bhavan's Cultural Centre presented a unique programme of music and dance at the Sardar Patel Sabhagriha in Andheri  as a mark of tribute to great exponents of kathak Sitara Devi and tabla maestro Pandit Chaube Maharaj. It was a befitting tribute in artistic style.

The two-day festival featured kathak exponent Jayantimala and her disciples, Kathak by Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj from New Delhi, ghazals by Ahmed and Mohammad Hussain, kathak by Rajeev Ranjan from Patna, kathak by Rishika Mishra and Fusion Drum trio music by Ranjit Barot was seen.

Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj's kathak recital was noteworthy for its stylistic quality and technical brilliance. It is after a long lapse that Ram Mohan performed in the city, he displayed some pure dance footwork and Gat Nikaas, His Makhan Chor enaction and the 'hori' combined with the 'thumri' was a rare treat;

Jayantimala's 'Damru Baje' and Rashika's interpretation of the 'Nav Durga Stuti' was impressive for its divine and dramatic quality. Rishika is blessed with fine looks and talent too. Rajeev Ranjan from Patna impressed the audience with his footwork and command over 'layakari'.

The dancers recieved fine orchestral support from Padit Kalinath, Ratnesh and Santosh Mishra on tabla, vocal by Somnath Mishra, sarangi by Sangeet Mishra, sitar by Alka Gaujar and side effects by Ravi Kishan. On the whole a grand programme.
